Amery Hill School Secures Major Funding

More than £390,000 awarded to support all-weather pitch refurbishment and new floodlights

Amery Hill School has received a significant funding boost for its planned hockey facility improvements, with successful grant applications totalling £392,625.

The school has been awarded £362,625 through East Hampshire District Council's Community Infrastructure Levy (CIL) funding programme to support the refurbishment of its all-weather pitch and the installation of new floodlights. The award is currently subject to the completion of the statutory call-in period, which closes on 16 July 2026, after which formal approval documentation is expected.

In addition, Alton Town Council has awarded the school £30,000 from its Neighbourhood CIL fund, further strengthening the project's financial position.

The investment marks a major milestone for the project, which will enhance hockey provision for both the school and the wider local community. The upgraded facility will provide improved playing conditions and increased opportunities for training and competition throughout the year.

The school is now progressing with the next phase of the project by preparing a planning application for the floodlight installation. This work includes a range of supporting surveys and technical reports required as part of the planning process.

Clare Saunders, Health & Safety Co-ordinator at Amery Hill School, thanked the many organisations that supported the funding applications:

"I just wanted to extend a massive thank you for your support to date. I have no doubt that having the support of so many organisations in our local community was a large contributing factor in the success of the bids."

South Central Hockey congratulates Amery Hill School on securing this significant investment and looks forward to seeing the project progress. The improvements will provide lasting benefits for hockey in the local area, supporting participation and helping to develop the game for players of all ages.
