NEWS of GMS updates

GMS Update – July 2026

Ahead of the 2026/27 season, we would like to share a summary of platform changes that will be in place in the live GMS system during August. New features, and process changes will be available across all fixtures/competitions before the season is due to start.

We will update clubs on relevant changes to them, through club together and get season ready newsletters.

Guidance:

We have already shared details of existing video guides through Club Together, signposting clubs to useful GMS information on existing webpages. New content will be added to these over the coming days and weeks.

Updated videos, along with downloadable guides, will be added covering various topics and processes – and we will continue to signpost clubs to these through our ongoing

Club Together communications.

New Features:

Fixture change audit

• ‘Fixture Notes’ tab added

• Visible to anyone who has access to a fixture

• This will include detail of any change made and who made the change (including time, date, venue)

Fixture change notifications

• Any change to date, time or location of a fixture will be communicated by email

• Email will be triggered to the other team’s contacts, upon a change being made

• If fixture is changed by a competition manager or umpire manager, both team contacts will be emailed

Both features will be available in live platform from 9th August

Process change:

Mandatory fields in match sheet

• All fields will now be mandatory in a match sheet
• Team administrators will be required to put data in every field
• Even if no goals have been scored, or no cards received – a ‘0’ must be entered
• Will be applied to all fixtures/match sheets in live platform by 1st September but will be available for testing purposes for fixtures before this date. (We will reach out directly for help with testing – it would be good to utilise some friendlies in August)

Fixtures, 26/27 Season:

• We have received four, out of the eight, sets of Area fixtures – these are now uploaded on GMS

• Those Fixtures will be available to view on the websites no later than Monday 3rd August

• Fixtures will be pushed through to the websites in blocks (one Area/Competition at a time), as this will be staggered please be aware some will show before others

• Most are likely to be showing by this weekend, but please allow until Monday, to ensure all is appearing as expected

Task under review/development (to be delivered in next month):

▪ Message should be sent to current clubs when someone dual registers (August)

▪ Ensuring that the cards saved at the end of a game, if then amended, refreshes in

ALL locations in which that data is stored (Completed – testing)

▪ Ability for U18 (Young Umpires) to access appointing functionality (part of longer- term changes, post-September)

▪ Amend text on home page to state ‘My Clubs’ is only relating to player role and not coaching / officiating (August)

▪ Juniors - Triangle Fixtures, significant amount of manual work, need platform solution 

(Completed – testing)

▪ Juniors - can't remove league fixtures on mass after drop outs (August)

▪ Junior Comps, creating fixtures - Fixture ID is not generating correctly (August)

▪ Ability to view Behaviour / Hospitality reporting from Umpire Match reports

(August)

▪ Umpiring changes requested by EH and NPUA (Short term solution in August,

longer-term changes post-September)

▪ Ability for EH Super Users to clear "frozen" transfers (August)

Data:

England Hockey will have access to regular GMS extracts, which will allow us to assess

data quality, and support stakeholders (Areas, clubs, competition mangers, etc.) with

improved visibility and updates on key information. The data will include:

- Contacts / Players / Consents

- Fixtures

- Appointments

- Full audit trails

- Detailed team sheets and Player stats

- Match reports, feedback forms, assessments

Available to EH from the start of the 26/27 season – please let us know of any specific

data needs you have that are not supported through the current ‘Insights Reports’ on

GMS. If we can provide useful data to help the management of your competitions, we

will look to offer that in an agreed format.

Completed Tasks:

▪ Merging of player records, historic team sheet data is fully maintained - resolved

▪ Left hand menu options disappearing when viewing on mobile devices - resolved

▪ Consents tick boxes – examples where selections were not saving - resolved

▪ EH Staff – Super Admin role, additional access and data - resolved

▪ Walkover fixtures should disappear from 'action required' on landing page - resolved

▪ Fixture generation - for simple division structures – now in platform

▪ Amendment to Players Receiving Cards Insight Report - if received 2 cards of

same colour in same game this only shows as one of them - resolved

▪ Website Display - Match Official and Doctor. Where these are appointed by the home team they appear in the team list as DOC or MO (replacing shirt number) rather than in the Team Official section - resolved
