Hockey 5’s Easter Tournament

Registration is now open for the inaugural   Marlow Hockey5s Easter Tournament. This is a unique opportunity to experience a new and exciting format of outdoor hockey. Here is the key information so you can share the information and start those conversations with club colleagues and team mates.

It will be a fun tournament, played on 2 adjacent pitches at Marlow Hockey Club, Pound Lane. Games will be 10 minutes one way and teams of 10 can use rolling substitutions to keep 5 players on the pitch at any one time. The tournament will be a round robin format, with 8 teams all playing each other. The morning tournament will start at 10am (with warm up time on the pitch from 9am) and finish at 12:45pm. The afternoon tournament will start at 1:30pm (with warm up time on the pitch from 12:45pm) and finish at 4:15pm.

There will be a DJ playing during the intervals between games and there will be trophies for winning teams in all categories. The registration fee per team is £180 and we would prefer to limit the number of teams in each category to 1 per Club. We also welcome entries from scratch teams and corporate teams.

The tournament includes 6 categories, which take place either in the morning or afternoon as follows:

Friday 29 March

U16 Girls (morning)

U16 Boys (afternoon)

Saturday 30 March

Adult Women - For players/teams no higher than South Central Women's Division 3 or equivalent (morning)

Adult Men – For players/teams no higher than South Central Men's Division 5 or equivalent (afternoon)

Monday 1 April

Women, open category (morning)

Men, open category (afternoon)

Delivering a safe tournament will be our   priority; we will be providing a first aider on site to attend to any injuries that might occur. Hockey5s is a faster game than outdoor, with different rules compared to both indoor and outdoor hockey. We will provide a rules briefing for all teams at the start of the tournament and all our EH registered and assessed umpires will have had Hockey5s training prior to the tournament.

There will be a BBQ and players will be able to buy meal vouchers (including a vegetarian option) at a discounted price of £7.50 when registering. There will also be other food and drink available to buy close to the pitch.
