The South Central Hockey Play-Off Day took place at the Aldershot Garrison Sports Centre on 18 April 2026, bringing together some of the region’s most competitive Open/Men’s and Women’s teams.

The event featured second-placed teams from Division 1 North and South, alongside top sides from the Cherwell, Thames, Forest and Solent leagues. With promotion at stake, the day delivered high-quality, competitive hockey across all fixtures.

A Professional and Well-Organised Event

The day was supported by representatives from the South Central Board, the Adult League Management Committee, and the Officials Committee, including the Development Team.

Conditions were ideal—bright sunshine with a comfortable temperature—setting the stage for a full day of decisive matches.

A key feature of the event was the professional structure:

  • Teams submitted line-ups in advance
  • Match Officials were fully briefed
  • Qualified umpires were appointed to all games

For many teams, this was a rare experience of playing with appointed officials, adding to the significance and standard of the competition.

A Unique Competitive Opportunity

This created a fresh, challenging environment and added excitement for players, coaches, and spectators alike.

Outstanding Feedback Across the Board

Feedback from players, coaches, and managers was overwhelmingly positive. Attendees consistently praised:

  • The organisation and professionalism of the event
  • The quality and competitiveness of matches
  • The value of cross-league competition

There was strong support for making the Play-Off Day a regular end-of-season feature in the South Central hockey calendar.
