Swans Shine Across the Board in Superb Weekend of Wins!

It was a weekend to remember for Swanage & Wareham Hockey Club, with all senior teams recording impressive victories.

Men’s 1st XI – Swans Soar to Seven in Dominant Home Victory

A crisp autumn morning set the stage at The Swannery as the unbeaten Swans Men’s 1st XI hosted Portsmouth 2s, eager for their first home win of the season.

Despite a lengthy injury list, the Swans started brightly and took the lead inside ten minutes through a Sam Waker penalty corner. Moments later, substitute Nick Pestana doubled the advantage with a superb deflection, before Waker struck again to make it 3–0 at the break.

Portsmouth pulled one back early in the second half, but the Swans quickly regained control. Dave Green restored the three-goal cushion before Portsmouth grabbed a second amid a spell of pressure. Any hopes of a comeback were swiftly ended, though, as Waker completed his hat-trick and added a fourth, with Jack Thompson rounding off the scoring for a commanding 7–2 win.

A superb all-round team effort, with Man of the Match going to Waker for his four-goal display and tireless two-way work. This flurry also puts Waker 4th highest goal scorer in the men’s league at this stage in the season! The Swans now pause for the international break before facing Poole.

Special mention to Robert Maidman, who represented the South Central Region Masters at the Regional Indoor Championships. #GoRob

Ladies 1st XI – Swans Stun League Leaders in 3–1 Away Triumph

The Ladies 1s produced a brilliant away performance to hand league leaders Winchester their first goals — and defeat — of the season.

After absorbing early pressure, the Swans struck first when Evie Binns tapped in a cross from Kate Black. The visitors stayed composed to reach halftime 1–0 up.

Early in the second half, a flowing move saw Charlotte Grenville-Cleave (GC) double the lead before Winchester hit back. But Grenville- Cleave wasn’t done, firing home her second to seal a famous 3–1 victory.

A mature, disciplined display that showcased just how far this side has come — every player played their part in a statement win.

Ladies 2nd XI – Confident Win Over Salisbury

The Ladies 2s rounded off the weekend with a strong 2–0 home victory against Salisbury 5s. Becky Church scored both goals in a composed team performance built on solid defence and sharp attacking play.

A well-deserved result and a big confidence boost for the season ahead.

Men’s 2nd Xl - Dig Deep For A Point On The Road.

The Men’s 2nd Team saw their winning streak paused with a hard-fought 3–3 draw away against Bournemouth.

Goals from Alex Gould, Matthew Hale, and Joe Daly ensured the side battled back to level terms with their opponents, securing a valuable point on the road.

The result keeps the team sitting second in the league, maintaining strong momentum in their campaign.

Meanwhile, Jordan Tillman continues to lead the way as the league’s top goal scorer, with Alex Gould close behind in fourth place.
