Umpires are appointed to matches at all levels and grades of game throughout the South Central Area.

Neutral umpires are appointed by the AOC Appointing team, whilst clubs appoint to games which do not have neutral umpires.  Required umpire qualifications are laid down in the Adult League regulations for the current season (which can be found on this page.

Coaching and development for umpires is carried out, across the Area, by the Development team (lead by our Lead Developer) and, more locally, by clubs through their Club Umpire Developers.

Any clubs wishing support to their club development programme should contact the AOC and we can agree how we can best help.  Contact detail for the AOC can be found here:

We have helped many clubs with, for example, sending a “hit squad” to club training evenings when people interested in giving umpiring a go can umpire small sided games, with a mentor to guide them, in a much more relaxed and stress free environment that umpiring a full match.

We may also be able to support running In Person Level 1 courses at a club if sufficient people are interested.  This would be based around the existing on-line Level 1 course, but with additional pitch time practice.
